Acwa Power reports $468m net profit

Saudi-listed utility and green hydrogen developer and investor Acwa Power has reported a net profit of SR1.757bn ($468.5m) for the full year ending 31 December 2024, up 5.7% over the previous period’s figure.

The firm said operating income before impairment losses and other expenses stood at SR2.98bn amid “unprecedented business growth”. The reported figure is virtually unchanged from the previous full fiscal year.

During 2024, Acwa Power added 14.3GW of energy capacity, with renewable power accounting for 10.7GW.

It also added 400,000 cubic metres a day (cm/d) of desalinated water capacity.

These transactions took the developer’s portfolio at the end of 2024 to 94 assets with a total investment cost of $97bn and a total gross capacity of 69.2GW of power generation, 5.3GWh of battery energy storage system plants and 8.1 million cm/d of desalinated water production.

“With the successful completion of nine financial closes in 2024, amounting to a total investment of SR34.6bn, we have over SR100bn under construction – the largest portfolio in our history,” said Acwa Power chief financial officer Abdulhameed Al-Muhaidib.
