Two bids were opened from the local Galfar Engineering & Contracting. Its main bid was RO289m and its alternative bid was RO279m.

The ministry also opened technical bids from Beijing-based China Communications Construction Company and the local Al-Bunyan.

The contract covers the engineering, design, procurement and construction of a single-carriageway asphalt road suitable for all vehicle types between Khasab and Dibba in the mountainous Musandam peninsula, which is separated from the rest of the sultanate by the UAE.

Another upcoming project in Musandam is an airport. Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority has invited international consultants to submit bids by 11 April for the design and supervision of the project. The consultancy services include preliminary design, detailed design, tender document preparation and tendering, supervision and post-contract services.
