QatarEnergy has signed an agreement with Japan’s Eneos Corporation to supply naphtha for a period of 10 years.

QatarEnergy will supply a total of up to 9 million tonnes of naphtha to Eneos, with supplies starting in July, QatarEnergy said in a statement.

Eneos Corporation is the largest refining and petrochemicals company in Japan and is wholly owned by Eneos Holdings. The Japanese conglomerate has been in the business of refining, manufacturing and selling petroleum products for over 135 years, since it was established in 1888 under the name of Nippon Oil Corporation.

“This agreement is the largest and longest commitment in more than a decade of collaborations between the two companies,” QatarEnergy said.

Naphtha supply agreements

The agreement with Eneos is understood to be at least the third naphtha supply deal that QatarEnergy has secured in June.

In early June, QatarEnergy entered into a long-term agreement with Japan-based Idemitsu Kosan Company to supply up to 6 million tonnes a year (t/y) of naphtha. The agreement lasts 10 years and deliveries will start in July.

Following that, QatarEnergy signed a deal with India’s Haldia Petrochemicals to supply a total of up to 2 million tonnes of naphtha over 10 years. The deliveries will start in the second quarter of 2024 and will be made to HPL Global, Haldia Petrochemicals’ Singapore-based, wholly-owned trading arm.
