Six companies shortlisted for Algeria chemicals project

A total of six companies have been shortlisted as part of the tender process for a chemicals project in Algeria, according to information released by the Industrial Group for Fertilisers & Phytosanitary Products (Asmidal).

Asmidal is a wholly owned subsidiary of Algeria’s national oil and gas company, Sonatrach.

The scope of the contract being tendered includes preparing a front-end engineering and design (feed) study for a project to create a fertilisers, food phosphates and derivatives complex.

The shortlist of consultants provisionally eligible to participate in the tender comprises:

A consortium of Ballestra (Italy) and NexantECA (UK)
Ginger Sofreco (France)
IAPS Group (Tunisia)
Hatch (Canada)
Exida (Canada)
Exp (Canada)

The shortlist is valid for a period of one year, according to Asmidal.

Asmidal was established in 1984 and manages a portfolio of companies that develop, produce and market fertilisers and pesticides.

Algeria is currently pushing to expand its fertiliser production, and in May this year, it announced a plan to double its fertiliser production by 2033.
