Six consultancies have submitted bids for the contract to develop Bahrain’s electric vehicle (EV) strategy.

UK-based Deloitte submitted a low bid of BD112,772 ($299,900) for the three-month contract.

The other bidders and their commercial offers are:

  • PWC Bahrain: BD159,500
  • Egis International: BD174,685
  • Arthur D Little Bahrain: BD435,158
  • Oliver Wyman: BD517,000
  • McKinsey & Company:  BD562,800

The strategy aims to drive the EV penetration in Bahrain in a controlled and sustainable way and to increase the deployment of solar renewable energy as an upstream source of electricity.

The strategy also aims to reduce overall fossil fuel dependency and consumption, reduce pollution and lower the cost-of-ownership for all stakeholders, which include the government, industries and private citizens.

The scope of work includes developing the required EV charging policies, regulations and infrastructure.

The project supports Bahrain’s pledge to reduce carbon emissions by 30 per cent by 2030 and its aim to reach net-zero by 2060.
