QatarEnergy secures Marubeni naphtha supply deal

QatarEnergy has announced signing a 10-year agreement with Japan-based Marubeni Corporation for the supply of naphtha.

Under the terms of the agreement, QatarEnergy subsidiary Qatar Petroleum for the Sale of Petroleum Products Company (QPSPP), will supply up to 1.2 million tonnes a year of naphtha to Marubeni Petroleum Company, a subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation.

The delivery of naphtha cargoes will begin in October, .

The agreement is an extension of a previous naphtha supply deal that had a duration of five years and expires in September.

“QatarEnergy and Marubeni Corporation have a long-standing strategic partnership through several shared investments in the energy industry in Qatar, including investment in Al-Kharsaah solar power plant and Mesaieed power plant,” the state enterprise said.

Marubeni Corporation is the largest petrochemicals feedstock trading entity and aggregator in Asia. The company has been receiving supplies of various grades of naphtha from Qatar since 1986, which it has delivered to end-users in Japan.
