Pearl Group and TotalEnergies complete solar rooftop project

25 October 2024

UAE-headquartered polyurethane insulation solutions provider, Pearl Group, has partnered with France’s TotalEnergies Renewables to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at three of its production facilities in the UAE.

The project supports Pearl’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint by cutting its annual CO2 emissions by 568 tonnes, the company said.

Pearl has installed a total of 1,653 solar PV rooftop panels with a total installed capacity of 821 kilowatt-peak (KWp).

Together, the three Dubai facilities will produce 1,336 megawatt hours (MWh) of energy a year.

The site in Dubai Investments Park (DIP) South is now contributing 372 kWp, the DIP North site adds 359 kWp, and Ras Al Khor provides 90 kWp.

According to Martin Kruczinna, CEO at Pearl, the project not only supports the company's operational needs but also aligns with its long-term vision of promoting renewable energy.

With over 35 years of experience in the Middle East, Pearl manufactures products including foams, coatings and elastomers.

The global petrochemicals sector is one of the hardest to abate due to its extensive use of energy for operations and production.

Sourcing energy from clean and renewable sources is a key pillar in their decarbonisation strategies.
