Oman opens financial bids for Batinah road
28 June 2023
Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications & Information Technology has opened prices from four contractors for the contract to complete the remaining sections of the first phase of the Al-Batinah coastal road.
The local Sarooj Construction Company submitted the lowest offer with a price of RO80m ($208m), which is about 1.5 per cent lower than the price of RO81.3m that was submitted by Lebanon’s Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC).
The other bidders were Strabag Oman with a price of RO99.7m and the local Galfar Engineering & Contracting with a price of RO142.8m.
The scope of work covers completing the first part of this phase, which extends 15 kilometres from the Al-Naseem intersection in Barka to the Tharmad intersection in Al-Musannah.
The contract includes paving a 6km road section connecting Suwaiq port; constructing a dual lane between Barka and Suwaiq Centre; and constructing Suwaiq bridge on Al-Batinah Al-Qaim road, alongside works on service and link roads, interchanges, wadi bridges, junctions and traffic signals.
The scope of works includes an option to deliver paving works on the second part of the phase, located between Sohar and Shinas.
