Miral and Emerge sign third solar rooftop project

17 October 2023

Abu Dhabi-based developer Miral has signed an agreement with Emerge to develop a 524-kilowatt peak (kWp) solar photovoltaic (PV) project on Yas Bay Waterfront.

The new solar project includes installing 920 solar modules at Yas Bay Waterfront, with Emerge providing a turnkey solution, including finance, design, procurement, construction, operations, and maintenance of the solar modules for 30 years.

The project is designed to offset 450 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Miral and Emerge, a joint venture of the UAE's Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) and France’s EDF,  have previously worked on two solar PV projects in Abu Dhabi.

In March this year, Miral inaugurated a 7MW solar rooftop project for The Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, which is designed to meet nearly 40 percent of the theme park’s annual energy demand.

In 2022, the two companies signed an agreement to deploy on-site solar energy systems at the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi theme park with a capacity of 8.4MW.

New brand

In October last year, Miral Asset Management launched a new group identity to streamline the delivery of AED13bn ($3.5bn)-worth of leisure and cultural projects across the emirate.

Rebranded as Miral, the developer will now have three subsidiaries overseeing its existing and upcoming portfolio of work.

Miral Destinations, previously Experience Hub, will unite group-wide sales and marketing under a single unit to streamline the promotion of destinations.

Miral Experiences, previously known as Farah Experiences, will oversee the operations and management of the destinations and events that fall under the Miral purview.

The third arm, Yas Asset Management, is tasked with managing properties on Yas Island, including Yas Bay and Yas Marina.
