14 February 2023

Saudi Arabia’s Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) has awarded Saudi Real Estate Infrastructure Company (Binyah) an SR544.10m ($145m) contract to design and build the Northern Cultural District’s P3 car park project.

The car park will have a minimum of 2,000 parking spaces across four basement levels, covering an area of 100,000 square metres (sq m).

The work scope involves the construction of a reinforced concrete building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works and a smart parking control management system.

The contract duration is 548 days, Binyah said in a bourse filing.

In December, DGDA awarded Binyah an SR373.9m contract to execute the enabling works for Diriyah Gate Phase 2.

The authority has awarded several contracts in recent months.

It awarded French engineering consultancy Egis the contract to provide project management consultancy services for the South and Garden Districts of the project.

The contract will cover all phases of the districts, including early development, design, procurement and construction.

The Diriyah Gardens and Diriyah South Districts developments form part of the Diriyah Gate masterplan and will include hotels, museums and conference centres.

DGDA and National Housing Company (NHC) signed a cooperation agreement in October.

The memorandum of understanding covers mutual areas that serve the housing sector, including urban planning and offering designs that meet building codes around Wadi Hanifah and its tributaries.

DGDA awarded South Korea’s Hanmi Global a $33.7m contract for Diriyah South and Garden District in July.

Hanmi Global will deliver project management services, including operation planning, design management, construction supervision and procurement oversight for developing residential and commercial buildings within the district.

The contract’s duration is until 2027.

DGDA is planning a district cooling public-private partnership (PPP) project catering to the development.

It expects to receive bids by 25 February for the contract to develop the project.

The proposed project will have a capacity of between 45,000 and 70,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT). It will be developed on a build-own-operate-and-transfer (BOOT) model, as MEED reported.
