India-based Larsen & Toubro has submitted the lowest bid for a contract tendered by state-owned downstream oil company Kuwait National Petroleum Corporation (KNPC), according to information released by the country’s Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT).

The project scope covers engineering, supply, installation and commissioning assistance required to replace the regenerator in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit 86 at the Mina Al-Ahmadi (MAA) refinery.

Larsen & Toubro submitted a bid of KD9,810,000 ($31.9m).

The only other bidder was South Korea’s YuhanTech Company, which submitted a bid of KD10,478,000.

The Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery was upgraded and integrated with Kuwait’s Mina Abdulla (MAB) refinery as part of the $16bn Clean Fuels Project (CFP).

This project, which was brought online in 2021, increased the capacity of MAB to 454,000 barrels a day (b/d) and the MAA refinery to 346,000 b/d.
