Kuwait infrastructure projects hit halfway mark

Two Kuwaiti infrastructure contracts being executed by Khalid Ali Al‑Kharafi & Brothers Company have reached their halfway point and are on track to be completed next year, according to industry sources.

The first contract covers infrastructure works in Kuwait’s Sabah Al‑Ahmad region and was awarded to Al‑Kharafi by the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) in June 2023 for $46m.

Its scope includes:

  • Construction of roads
  • Construction of a rainwater drainage network
  • Construction of a freshwater network
  • Installation of a telephone network
  • Installation of street lights
  • Construction of an irrigation tank
  • Construction of a power substation
  • Construction of associated facilities

The second contract, worth $31m, was awarded to Al‑Kharafi by the PAHW in January last year.

This project is focused on developing a sports centre for girls in the Jaber Al‑Ahmed Township. Its scope includes:

  • Construction of a girls’ centre building
  • Construction of a swimming pool
  • Construction of a sports hall
  • Construction of handicraft shops
  • Construction of associated facilities

The PAHW was established in 1993 and is responsible for providing public housing to eligible citizens in Kuwait.
