Kent acquires Sudlows Consulting

26 February 2025

Dubai-headquartered energy and engineering services firm Kent has acquired Sudlows Consulting, a design and engineering firm specialising in data centres based in the emirate.

The acquisition marks Kent’s entry into the “high-growth international data centre engineering market and strengthens its commitment to sector diversification and sustainability”, Kent said in a statement.

Established in 2014, Sudlows Consulting is understood to have delivered over 100 data centre projects across 20 countries. It has offices in India, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.

“Our acquisition of Sudlows Consulting is more than just a business opportunity – it’s a strategic leap into a sector primed for long-term growth,” said John Gilley, CEO of Kent.

The global data centre sector experienced a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16% between 2017 and 2024, and forecasts indicate an 11% CAGR from 2024 to 2028.

Increasing data usage, cloud adoption, the rise of artificial intelligence and data sovereignty regulations mandating local data hosting underpin this trend, which presents a non-cyclical growth opportunity expected to span decades, according to Kent.

Saudi Arabia’s Nesma & Partners completed the acquisition of Kent last year.

Nesma & Partners is owned by four shareholders: Nesma Contracting, Alturki Holding, Rawabi Holding and Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth institution, the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
