India’s L&T wins regional power transmission contracts

11 June 2025

Indian contracting conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has won new grid infrastructure orders in the Middle East and India.

In the Middle East, PT&D has received orders to execute a set of 220-kilovolt (kV) and 132kV gas-insulated substations on a turnkey basis.

“These orders come from leading transmission asset owners and operators in the respective countries,” L&T said, without providing details about the contracts, customers, scope of work or their values.

In India, PT&D won an order to build 765kV and 400kV transmission line jobs related to the integration of a renewable energy zone in Andhra Pradesh state.

Prior to these contracts, PT&D won two contracts in March to build substations in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

In Saudi Arabia, PT&D won an order for a 380kV gas-insulated substation. Its scope includes associated reactors and the installation of hybrid GIS bays.

In Abu Dhabi, the firm secured an order to set up a new 220/33kV grid station, along with associated works.

The contracts were worth between $286m and $573m each, based on L&T’s contract value classification. The actual values were not disclosed.
