Firms submit Qiddiya wadi bridge interest

13 August 2024

Saudi gigaproject developer Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) has received expression of interest (EoI) applications from firms for the construction works on a wadi bridge in Qiddiya.

The contract covers designing and constructing a 260-metre-long dual-carriageway bridge over a wadi in Qiddiya.

The bridge will be located in the Uptown South district, also known as District 18, and forms part of the outer ring road in Qiddiya. The project will be located to the east of the gaming and e-sports precinct.

The notice was issued on 5 August and it is understood that firms submitted their forms on 12 August.

QIC is ramping up its construction efforts at the development. In July, MEED exclusively reported that QIC had tendered a contract for the piling works at Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya City.

In June, it appointed Dubai-based Brewer Smith Brewer Gulf and US-headquartered Tom Wiscombe Architecture as the lead designers for its newly launched performing arts centre in Qiddiya entertainment city.

The centre will have over 3,000 seats in three theatres. It will also include a cantilevered amphitheatre overlooking Qiddiya City’s lower plateau, with a 500-seat centre suspended from above.

QIC is developing the Qiddiya entertainment city project on the outskirts of Riyadh. It is one of Saudi Arabia’s five official gigaprojects and covers 376 square kilometres (sq km), with 223 sq km of developed land.
