Saudi Arabia’s Shomoul Holding has invited contractors to submit bids by 9 February for the contract to build its planned Avenues retail-based development in the city of Khobar in the kingdom’s Eastern Province.

The scope of work includes the substructure, superstructure, internal finishes, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and associated works for a shopping mall comprising a car park with a total floor area of 770,000 square metres (sq m) and a mixed-use tower with 50,000 sq m of floor area.

The mall will have shopping and entertainment areas, an internal garden and basements. The tower will have shell and core office space and a 200-key hotel.

US-based JLL is the project management consultant. The UK-headquartered Turner & Townsend is the cost consultant for the project. The UAE-Turkish Habtoor STFA Soil Group is the foundation contractor for the project, according to regional project tracker MEED Projects.
