Expo City Dubai has appointed India's Shapoorji Pallonji as the main contractor to build its Mangrove Residences development in Expo City.

Mangrove Residences is a multi-building complex located within the Expo Central development and includes about 450 units.

Singapore-based DP Architects is the project's design consultant, and South African Zutari is the engineering consultant and architect of record.

The local International Foundations Group is executing the project's enabling works.

The client also selected local firm USF Demolition to remove former Expo 2020 Dubai pavilions and existing structures on the plot and Dubai-based Proscape for infrastructure and clearance works.

Mangrove Residences is one of the three residential clusters at Expo Central.

In October last year, MEED reported that Expo City had started construction for its Expo Valley project, located on a plot adjacent to the Expo 2020 site.

The Expo Valley project comprises 532 villas, townhouses and semi-detached properties.

Expo City Dubai launched the residential projects at the Expo 2020 site in March 2023.

They include Expo Central, which comprises three clusters of buildings known as Mangrove Residences, Sidra Residences and Sky Residences. The villa community is known as Expo Valley.

Dubai announced in June 2022 that the expo site would be transitioned into a mixed-use district known as Expo City Dubai.

Nearly 80% of the built assets are being retained, including landmarks such as Al-Wasl Plaza, the Garden in the Sky observation deck, the Surreal water feature, the Terra Sustainability Pavilion and the Mobility Pavilion.
