Sichuan-headquartered engineering firm China Southwest Architectural Design & Research Institute has won a contract to design a new skyscraper project in Riyadh.

According to local media reports, the project comprises two high-rise towers spanning about 110,000 square metres in northern Riyadh.

The mixed-use project will comprise hotels, apartments, offices, retail and other associated facilities.

The project will be located at the intersection of the Northern Ring Road and Al-Olaya Street, adjacent to the King Abdullah Financial District.

China Southwest Architectural Design & Research Institute is a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering consultancy, known for delivering complex, large-scale projects that combine architectural design with structural, MEP and integrated engineering services.

The institute works across public, commercial, transport, cultural and mixed‑use developments.

According to UK-based analytics firm GlobalData, the construction industry in Saudi Arabia is expected to grow by 5.4% from 2026 to 2029, supported by investments in housing, energy, and transport infrastructure, as well as preparations for the Fifa World Cup 2034, which will be held in Riyadh.

The growth will also be supported by the government’s focus on boosting the tourism sector, along with investments in industrial, housing and sports infrastructure projects.
