Al Douh Iraqi Company for Cement Industries has awarded Chinese contractor Suzhou Sinoma Construction Company the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build a cement plant in Iraq.
Al Douh Cement Company is owned by Jordan-headquartered Al Riyadh Investment Companies Group (RICG), which was established in Iraq in 1982.
The contract for the cement plant was signed at a ceremony at RICG’s office in Amman, the company said in a statement. However, it has yet to reveal the value of the contract.
The new cement plant will be located in Samawah in Iraq’s Musanna province. The project will include a clinker cement production line with an output capacity of 5,500 tonnes a day (t/d), as well as a power plant and a waste heat power generation unit.
Hans is the consultant on the project, RICG said in its statement.
Prior to this contract win, Suzhou Sinoma won an EPC contract last May to develop the first phase of the planned Khayrat cement plant in Iraq. When complete, the facility, also located in Samawah, will have the capacity to produce 3,200 t/d of cement.
