Dewa tenders water contracts

27 March 2024

State utility Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has invited companies to bid for two water transmission pipeline contracts.

The first contract is for supplying and installing glass-reinforced epoxy water transmission pipelines and associated works.

The contract tender bond is valued at AED7.9m ($2.15m). Dewa expects to receive proposals from contractors on 1 May.

The second tender is for converting butterfly valves to motorised butterfly valves for the first phase of a water transmission pipeline.

The tender bond for the second contract is AED7.2m. The state utility expects to receive bids for this contract by 8 May.

Dewa aims to increase water desalination capacity in Dubai to 750 million imperial gallons a day (MIGD) by 2030, up from 490MIGD.

In October, Dewa signed a 30-year water-purchase agreement with Saudi utility developer Acwa Power for the Hassyan independent water project, which can treat 180 million imperial gallons of seawater a day.
