Contractors submit Jebel Ali Village bids

23 January 2023

Contractors have submitted bids for a contract to build townhouses as part of the redevelopment of Jebel Ali Village in Dubai.

The redevelopment project involves the construction of three- and four-bedroom townhouses, as well as four- and five-bedroom villas.

Jebel Ali Village is located off Sheikh Zayed Road, close to Ibn Battuta Mall. Originally built in the 1970s for staff working on the construction of Jebel Ali Port, the village is one of Dubai’s oldest residential communities for expatriates.

Tenants living in the village were given eviction notices in October 2021. The last tenants left in October 2022.

The consultancy team working on the project includes US-based Parsons and the local Arch Group. The client is local developer Nakheel.

Nakheel says the planned amenities include parks and water features, a jogging track, a biking trail, a community vegetable farm, swimming pools and children’s play areas, as well as sports facilities such as a five-a-side football pitch, padel tennis court and basketball court.

Nakheel is working on other residential projects in the Jebel Ali area, including Murooj al-Furjan and Tilal al-Furjan.
