Construction work has started on a new headquarters for state-owned Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC), according to sources.

The facility is being built in Kuwait’s Al-Ahmadi Governorate and has a value of KD36m ($117m).

The building comprises five floors and a service floor.

Kuwait Technical Consulting Bureau (KTCB) has provided design, project management, interior and landscape design services for the project.

The main contract is being executed by Kuwaiti contractor Khalid Ali Al-Kharafi & Brothers Company.

The project is one of the “leading green buildings in the country”, according to KTCB, which has said that it will use less energy and water than conventional buildings.

KGOC was established in 2002 as a wholly owned subsidiary of state energy conglomerate Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).

The KPC subsidiary represents the upstream oil and gas interests of Kuwait in the Neutral Zone, which is shared with Saudi Arabia.
