Local firm wins Jubail lift station contract
9 October 2024
Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company (NWC) has awarded a contract to increase the design capacity of the PS-01 lift station with a discharge line in Jubail.
The local Saad Ali Al-Essa Contracting Group won the SR153.29m ($40.8m) contract.
In addition to studies and designs, the scope of works includes earthworks and surface restoration works; tunnel drilling for pipes with a diameter of 600-800mm; and a main gravity sewage network for pipes with a 200-400mm diameter and an approximate length of 40 kilometres.
It also includes works for approximately 483 manholes and the supply and implementation of some 1,300 inspection rooms.
The project entails establishing a 1,000mm discharge line that extends roughly 14km and developing the sewage pump at the site of the main pumping station, PS1, and two substations.
MEED reported in November last year that NWC had earmarked SR102.9bn ($27.4bn) for implementing 1,294 water and wastewater projects across the kingdom.
Its CEO, Nemer Bin Mohammed Al-Shebl, said these schemes range from expansion projects for water and wastewater networks to the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants.
In May, NWC awarded $2.5bn-worth of contracts for the first phase of the state-backed utility company’s long-term operation and maintenance (LTOM) programme.
