Galfar wins Raysut water project

The local contracting firm Galfar Engineering & Contracting Company has won a contract to implement an expansion of the third phase of the Raysut water reclamation plants in Oman.

The contract is valued at RO35m ($90.9m), according to a local media report citing an official statement from Galfar.

The client is Nama Dhofar Service Company, which supplies water, electricity and wastewater services in Oman's Dhofar region.

Galfar said it received the letter of award on 25 July.

The project will be executed within 36 months of the project's commencement date.

An estimated $1.6bn-worth of water, wastewater, reservoir and transmission projects are under construction in the sultanate, according to the latest available data from regional projects tracker MEED Projects.

Some $4bn-worth of projects within the sector are planned and unawarded as of 31 July.
